An Update on Tumbling, Patreonic Stuff

July 31, 2016

(This post has been brought to you by the efforts of my 37 really very very decent and kind Patrons! Visit my Patreon page to learn how to become one of them.)

Which is an appropriate way to start, because this is a post about changes to my Patreon and how they’re affecting my Tumblr page. Woo! Excitement!

Seriously, though I think this will be kind of exciting, at least to some people. I recently added a couple of new goals to my Patreon campaign, both of which are related to my Tumblr page. I’ve been using Tumblr as a combination creative outlet/advertising space, doing brief flash-fiction based around the pictures that cross my feed as and when I have time. This has been good in some ways–a lot of people have really loved my captions and have reblogged them over and over!

It’s also been bad in some ways, because it’s just one more thing that I feel like I have to do, and like everyone who tries to make money by doing something creative, you start feeling guilty any time you do something creative that’s not helping you financially because that’s time and energy you should be spending on the stuff that helps support you and your family and you can’t afford to just have fun writing anymore and–

**tamps down anxiety attack**

(Yes, it’s not just you that feels that way. It’s normal to feel a little overwhelmed by the demands of self-starting as a writer, especially when you’re publishing your own work. Don’t feel bad, you’re not alone.)

The point is, I came up with a way to make everyone…at least theoretically…happy. I’ve added a new milestone–two, actually–to my Patreon campaign. At $100 a week (total), I’m going to guarantee seven caption stories a week as well. That means that a) until I hit that milestone, I can feel less guilty about skipping a few days here and there, because if people want them daily they can put their money where their mouth is, and b) once I do hit that milestone, I can feel less guilty about doing them because they’re part of the draw that people pay money for and they’re no longer “just” creative, but a responsible part of my writing career as well.

(A responsible part of my writing career about people having kinky sex. Just so we’re clear that it’s the career, not the writing, that’s responsible.)

So, if you haven’t visited my Patreon page in a while, feel free to stop by and look at the new milestones (there’s a second one, as mentioned, which will double the number of daily captions). I hope it will make you want to contribute, because I like to think that my writing is worth something to people. If not, hey. I’ll keep trying to think of cool incentives for you.

Early Bird Sneak Peek: “Breathe It In”!

July 28, 2016

Hi all! It’s time for another Early Bird Sneak Peek, where I share a glimpse at the story my lucky Early Bird patrons will be enjoying next Saturday thanks to their pledges at my Patreon page! Of course, if you’re not an Early Bird patron, you’ll still get a story next week–“Uniform”, teased as last week’s Early Bird story, has already been submitted to the EMCSA. But the Early Bird patrons will be getting “Breathe It In”! (MC FF)

Aimee has been a very naughty girl, teasing her girlfriend Joanna with all sorts of kinky fantasies and getting her all worked up. She’s being a brat on purpose, but the downside of teasing Joanna all day is that Joanna’s had all day to think about how to get her revenge.

Here’s a taste:

Aimee gulped a little, wondering if she might have gotten in over her head just a bit. “Thank you,” she said cautiously, waiting for the other shoe to drop, “but we haven’t even finished talking about where we want to have dinner, and–“

“Oh, there’s a lot of things we haven’t finished talking about,” Joanna said, doffing her coat and tossing it onto the easy chair. “For instance, we haven’t finished talking about this afternoon. And a few things that a very naughty girl said to me while I was at work and couldn’t properly respond.”

“Oh, that?” Aimee felt her grip on the rose tighten, suddenly very grateful that the stem had no thorns. “I thought you might have forgotten about that already.”

Joanna smiled a dangerous smile and sat down in the chair. “Did you really? And which particular part did you think that I might have forgotten? The part where you texted me and said you hadn’t even gotten dressed yet? Or perhaps the bit where you said you were, and I quote, ‘bored and hazy as fuck’ and teasing yourself through your panties?”

Hope you enjoy it!

Mind Control in “Ghostbusters”

July 25, 2016

(This post has been brought to you by the efforts of my 36 magical Patrons! Visit my Patreon page to learn how to become one of them.)

As you may have heard, there’s a new ‘Ghostbusters’ movie out, which has a whole set of controversies I’m not touching right now because a) I’m sure you can already guess my feelings on using the inevitable Hollywood reboot of a property as an opportunity to include more representation from groups traditionally marginalized by studio films, and b) I don’t think there’s really any reaching anyone who’s complaining about this movie, either because they’ve genuinely convinced themselves there’s nothing sexist about disliking it or because they’re unrepentantly misogynist to a degree where they wouldn’t listen to me anyway. I tilt at windmills, but not on a weekly basis.

But I have seen it, I did enjoy it, and hey presto, there’s some mind control in it! And, unsurprisingly in a movie with four female leads and a male character who revels in being eye candy (Chris Hemsworth is hilarious and sweet all at the same time as dim-but-cute receptionist Kevin), the mind control in this mostly involves controlled men.

There is a scene that does involve a mind-controlled woman, and it may in fact trip certain fetish triggers–the villain of the film, Rowan, is a man with some deep-rooted insecurities who looks forward to using his supernatural power to lord it over others. As a result, when he uses those powers to (I’d say spoilers, but this is in the trailers) take over Melissa McCarthy’s Abby, there’s a quiet undertone there of Rowan being able to finally make a woman do everything he wants her to. It’s brief, more like an echo than a plot point, but the scene where she’s taken over does have a certain quality that has probably been expanded out into fanfic by someone.

But the scenes with Kevin as Rowan’s victim/meat puppet are more prominent, longer, and while there’s no real homosexual subtext to them (Rowan is more interested in enjoying being a handsome and powerful “alpha” than he is in thinking about the idea that reveling in another guy’s physicality might be a little bit less than straight) there’s definitely something there for people who want to see brainwashed guys and don’t get their chance very often because male gaze. Chris Hemsworth is, let’s all admit it, pretty damn near perfect, and while he is “possessed” instead of “mindless”, there’s definitely something there that anyone who is into the idea of men acting under someone else’s control can watch in the theater and fantasize about later.

Add to that one scene (which is greatly elaborated on in the credits) where Rowan in Kevin’s body decides to display his supernatural power by imposing it on the collective wills of a group of soldiers sent to stop him, and you’ve certainly got a little something something for those of us who have a fetish that peeks its way into the mainstream time and time again. I don’t know that the movie is worth seeing for that alone, but I will say it’s worth seeing for Kate McKinnon alone and you get all this as a fun extra if you’re looking for brainwashed beefcake.

And who knows, maybe some of you are.

Early Bird Sneak Peek: “Uniform”!

July 21, 2016

Hi all! It’s time for another Early Bird Sneak Peek, where I share a glimpse at the story my lucky Early Bird patrons will be enjoying next Saturday thanks to their pledges at my Patreon page! Of course, if you’re not an Early Bird patron, you’ll still get a story next week–“Trust In Me”, teased as last week’s Early Bird story, has already been submitted to the EMCSA. But the Early Bird patrons will be getting “Uniform”! (MC MF MD)

Marceline’s a little late for work. That wouldn’t be a problem, if her work uniform wasn’t so elaborate. And so important. After all, every good girl needs to wear her uniform to do her job right…

Here’s a taste:

She burst into the locker room with her blouse already halfway unbuttoned, almost wishing she’d worn her Supergirl t-shirt underneath just for visual effect…but there was nobody to see it anyway. Marceline was even later than she realized, if the other girls were already dressed. Crap. She ran to her locker and tossed her backpack in, then set to pulling off her clothes with an unseemly haste.

She dumped the ball of clothing into the bottom of the locker on top of her backpack, then grabbed her uniform from where it hung on the plastic hanger. She took it over to one of the changing benches and laid it out–from this point on, there really wasn’t much Marceline could to do hurry. She’d just have to hope she wasn’t as far behind as she seemed.

Marceline grabbed a bottle of silicone lube from one of the changing benches and squirted a palmful into her open hand. She set down the bottle and smeared the lube over her other hand, then worked it up and down her arms until she had a thin, slick coating up to her shoulders. She wished one of the other girls was there to help–this part always went easier with someone else lubing her body–but it wasn’t the first time she’d done it solo.

Hope you enjoy it!

Why I Don’t Do Much Bimbification

July 17, 2016

(This post has been brought to you by the efforts of my 34 kind and considerate Patrons! Visit my Patreon page to learn how to become one of them.)

I’m not very good at keeping my mouth shut. Let’s get that out of the way right now, because there’s a pretty good chance I’m going to make somebody mad with this particular blog post, and I probably shouldn’t even write it because hey, no kink shaming and you be you and I’m trying to build an audience of paying patrons and being really publicly opinionated is probably just a mistake.

But I’m not very good at keeping my mouth shut, so let’s talk about why I am profoundly ambivalent about bimbification, even though the Venn diagram between “mind control kink” and “bimbification kink” is probably at 75%, easily, and I could really expand my audience by doing those kinds of stories. (A quick primer, for those of you unaware, bimbification kink is the fetishization of using mind control to permanently reduce the intelligence of a woman and convince her to undergo body modification to look stereotypically sexy.)

The best place to start is with the “no kink shaming” thing. Because I’m actually pretty much down with “no kink shaming”, even when it comes to bimbification. My problem is that bimbification is one of those places where the line between “kink” and “actual attitude about women” kind of blurs. If you have a fantasy about having a girlfriend who has trouble thinking about anything but sex? That’s your kink. If your actual play partner has a fantasy about being a woman who has trouble thinking about anything but sex? That’s her kink. If the two of you engage in consensual play where you act that out, using hypnosis to simulate reduced intelligence? That’s your mutual kink.

If you don’t like smart women because you’re only attracted to bimbos, or if you only like smart women because you’re secretly fantasizing about turning them into bimbos? That’s an actual attitude towards women, and it’s a sexist and misogynistic one.

Now, I’m not saying that everyone who’s into bimbification kink is a misogynist. But I am saying that bimbification is the kink of choice for genuinely misogynistic BDSM enthusiasts, and that those people can very easily use the protective coloration of their kink to hide those tendencies in a way that lets them prey on women. When you’ve got a whole subculture devoted to finding ways to describe women as dim-witted semen receptacles who should shut up and do as they’re told up to and including plastic surgery, how exactly do you tell when someone’s crossing the line?

These are the Doms who tell women that they don’t have a right to safeword. These are the ones who withhold affection when the submissive isn’t behaving the way they want instead of talking out the issue. These are the ones pushing for their sub to be “in scene” 24/7, or doing things in scene that weren’t discussed or agreed upon previously and not immediately stopping when asked. Basically, it’s an ugly truth that there are serial abusers hiding in the kink community because they can always use “no kink shaming” as a get-out-of-jail-free card for abuse, and they gravitate to the more extreme forms of dehumanizing kink because it gives them the most freedom to pull shit.

And so when I see bimbification on Tumblr, or in stories, or on FetLife, I always kind of wonder if that’s that person’s kink, or if they really believe that. I don’t usually have that issue with other kinks. So I don’t like it and I don’t want to encourage it. Even when I do things that tiptoe up to that line (and I have, just because by this point I’ve done damn near everything up to and including gelatinous brain colonies and a mind-control themed Gilbert and Sullivan filk) I think my ambivalence shows through. I’m not a fan of the kink because I think it’s not just a kink for some people.

(Plus, frankly, I can’t imagine wanting someone permanently dumb. What do you talk to them about after sex?)

So after years of tiptoeing around the subject and trying to be polite and not kink-shame, I’m just giving the ketchup bottle of my opinions a good old whack on the bottom and splattering it all onto the plate. I don’t like bimbification, I won’t be doing it, and I don’t really like public displays of it because they always seem to be a little too enthusiastic in their disdain for women. If this doesn’t apply to you, great! If it does, maybe avoid the scene until you can figure out why it is you feel threatened by women who are anything other than stupid and subservient? Thanks.

Early Bird Sneak Peek: “Trust In Me”!

July 14, 2016

Hi all! It’s time for another Early Bird Sneak Peek, where I share a glimpse at the story my lucky Early Bird patrons will be enjoying next Saturday thanks to their pledges at my Patreon page! Of course, if you’re not an Early Bird patron, you’ll still get a story next week–“Doll”, teased as last week’s Early Bird story, has already been submitted to the EMCSA. But the Early Bird patrons will be getting “Trust In Me”! (MC MF FD)

(Really, the only surprise is that I’ve resisted using this title this long.)

While visiting a hypnokink convention, Malik decides to allow novice hypnodomme Diana to trance him for the first time. She’s got no experience, but she’s pretty sure that there’s at least one trigger that every hypno-submissive comes fitted with standard, and she’s ready to give it a try. Here’s a taste:

Malik’s eyebrows went up. “You’ve never done it before?” he asked, before he could stop himself. “Not that I’m bothered, I just thought…you look like someone who’s really into being on top, is all.” He looked down a little as another wave of shyness came over him. Cyndi had topped him a few times, but she was too switchy to really give off a dominant vibe. But Di…she looked like she was born for it. She looked like she knew everyone’s secret desire, the thing that would make them fall to their knees in a second. She looked like she was already fitting him for a collar.

“Oh, I am,” she said with a wicked grin that confirmed all of Malik’s inner monologue. “But like I say, I’ve mostly been into erotic wrestling. I’ve been paying attention at the workshops, but I’ve never actually hypnotized anyone, not for real. You’d be my first vi…subject.” She blushed a little, her pale skin showing it perfectly.

Hope you enjoy it!

Liner Notes for June 2016

July 10, 2016

(This post has been brought to you by the efforts of my 34 genuinely amazing Patrons! Visit my Patreon page to learn how to become one of them.)

Welcome to another month of Liner Notes, the recurring feature on my blog that explains just what was in my head when I decided to write last month’s stories. This was a slightly light month, due to Simon’s vacation, but it still left us a few things to talk about. So shall we?

Neuromancer: While on my never-ending quest for inspiration, I saw this in the track listing of Billy Idol’s “cyberpunk” concept album. Obviously, my first thought was that it had, in fact, been used before. My second thought was that it was kind of a shame that my first thought was true, because it’s a perfect title for a short story about erotic mind control due to the fantasy convention of “(blank)mancer” being the title of a wizard specializing in a particular field of magic, and “neuro” meaning “mind”. My third thought was to see if anyone ever used it that way, because Gibson sure didn’t and it’d be a shame to leave that totally fallow. When I couldn’t find anything except articles about the novel populating Google’s search results, that led to my fourth thought, which was to use that in the story as a nod to Gibson and get writing.

I knew when I started that it would be about Bev meeting a neuromancer on a plane, and I knew that what seemed like a Harry Potter-esque induction into the secrets of the craft would actually turn dark when he revealed that he knew Bev’s secret shame. (A secret shame inspired in equal parts by 100 Bullets–the idea of planting kiddie porn on a computer to destroy someone’s life–and Steven Grant and Warren Ellis’s all-too brief run on X-Man, where Nathan Summers confides in someone who the writers seem to be setting up as a supporting character, only to reveal they’re the villain.) (That’s also where I borrowed the idea of just short-circuiting all the “this story is unbelievable!” bullshit by having the protagonist just remove their ability to doubt it.)

Having settled on that, I then got to the end and decided that the story was too fucking bleak to be readable. (Also resolutely unsexy–I went back in and added the stewardess sequence to help with that.) I went ahead and split the difference, making it a craft induction and a revenge story all at once, and called it good. Lots of people want a sequel to this one, so I must have done something right.

X Marks the Spot: I will admit that over the years, I’ve gotten a lot of enjoyment out of the blog Hypno-Fantastico. Lex and Lizzie, the couple who run it, are very fun to read, and they have a lot of interesting stories to tell about hypnokink (stories that only got more interesting when Lex started up a website selling erotic hypnosis videos, Entrancement UK).

All of that is by way of prelude to explaining that they were completely and totally the inspiration for this story and I don’t even pretend otherwise. The title sparked an idea of a touch trigger “somewhere” on a person’s body and the very enjoyable search for it, and it did seem like something Lex might do, and things just sort of went on from there.

Incidentally, at least as far as I’m concerned, there never was an actual implanted touch trigger on Jennifer’s body. She was being induced all over again by the full-body massage and eye fixation, and by the end she was so suggestible that all he needed to do was tell her she’d go under and she did. But of course, YMMV.

Open Wide: Not much to talk about with this one, really. I saw the title and knew it would be a good “all-purpose” trigger, with each usage deepening trance and suggestibility. I also felt like writing something about that feeling I think every submissive, especially a hypnokinky one, gets at some point in the relationship–that wild feeling that maybe you’re letting someone else have too much control over you, but that worry is tied with so much excitement that you can’t bring yourself to stop. It wound up being the two things intertwined in a sort of flashback/flashforward model.

And no, I don’t know whether Paul was sincerely listening to her to make sure that everything was green in their D/s relationship, or whether that was another subtle way of deepening his hold over her. Take it as you will.

And that’s all for June! I’ll be back next week with another post, but Liner Notes will be back in August!

(This post has been brought to you by the efforts of my 35 truly special Patrons! Visit my Patreon page to learn how to become one of them.)

Someone asked me on Tumblr the other day if there was a place where you could see which of my stories had sequels, or were linked together in the same fictional universe, or were somehow related. And I realized that a) this could be a useful thing, since it’s hard to sort through 300-ish stories to find which ones connect especially when they’re not in alphabetical order and the titles give no clue, and b) I had missed last week’s blog post due to being at a sci-fi convention and this would be an easy way to make up the gap. Early Bird Sneak Peek: “Doll”!

July 7, 2016

Hi all! It’s time for another Early Bird Sneak Peek, where I share a glimpse at the story my lucky Early Bird patrons will be enjoying next Saturday thanks to their pledges at my Patreon page! Of course, if you’re not an Early Bird patron, you’ll still get a story next week–“Caught in a Trap“, teased as last week’s Early Bird story, has already been submitted to the EMCSA. But the Early Bird patrons will be getting “Doll”! (MC)

“Doll” is one of my occasional induction pieces, short monologues that double as hypnotic inductions for your personal use with a consensual partner. As always, it’s non-gender specific, and this one is themed around…well, guess.

Here’s a taste:

“Oh dear. This has been one of those long, exhausting days, hasn’t it? I can tell. You look like you’ve been really pushing yourself, staying focused through all the distractions and concentrating so hard on everything you’ve had to do that you just don’t want to think at all anymore. Your brain is so tired you’re probably envying those dolls on my shelf, aren’t you?

“I know, it sounds a little silly to suggest that a living person might want to trade places with one of my dollies, but look at them. Really take a good long look at them for a moment. I’m sure that as you do, you’ll see one that reminds you of you. All those pretty dolls, smiling back at you without a thought in their empty plastic heads. Don’t they look happy? Don’t they look peaceful? I’m not saying you’d want to be a doll for me all the time, but just look into those blank, glass eyes for a while and think about how nice it would be to be an empty-headed dolly for a little bit.

Hope you enjoy it!
