Heck With It!

December 16, 2010

I haven’t had a good idea for a post in two weeks, despite some delicious hypnotic sessions with Lady Ru’etha…so I’m just going to ask you, my readers, for things to talk about. Go ahead, ask me questions in the comments; about my stories, about my influences, about hypnosis, about how many swallows it takes to carry a one-pound coconut! I can’t promise I’ll answer every question (some of the very very personal ones might be off-limits, for example) but I’ll give it the old college try.

Spiral Awards

June 9, 2010

Huh! Will ya look at that! There seems to be a story of mine nominated for this year’s Spiral Awards! Now isn’t that a fascinating thing to mention on a blog of people who presumably enjoy my writing? πŸ™‚

In all seriousness, I’m thrilled to see that “Headwires” was nominated for a Spiral Award. It genuinely is one of my favorite stories I’ve ever written, possibly the favorite, and I’m very gratified to find out that other people remembered and liked it when it came time to pick a “Best of the Year”. Thanks to everyone who put it into contention for this year’s award.

Competitiveness prevents me from mentioning any of the other stories in the MF category πŸ™‚ but it is also nice to see that some of my favorite authors and favorite people got nominated as well. Congrats to everyone who got a nomination, and good luck to my good friends! (Unless you’re competing against “Headwires”. Then I hope the Internet connection of everyone voting for your story gets mysteriously and inexplicably broken.)

Slightly More Expanded Announcement

June 5, 2010

As I mentioned last week, I’ll be attending the New England Erotic Hypnosis Unconference in Boston from June 11-13th. What I didn’t mention last week is that tickets are still on sale here, that Lady Ru’etha will be going with me, that She’s doing some presentations on erotic hypnosis, that I’m apparently going to be presenting on writing MC erotica (alongside Wiseguy, no less!) and that I’ll sign any books that you might happen to purchase and bring with you. (If you bought the ebook, print out the title page and I’ll sign that. πŸ™‚ ) I will be selling ebooks (I won’t be able to sell the print versions, I’m afraid, but you’ll be able to buy the ebooks on flash drive) and Lady Ru’etha will be selling Her mp3 files. (Same deal.)

Also, it’s worth mentioning that if you’re local to the Twin Cities, this Sunday at 7 PM will feature the inaugural meeting of the Minnesota Erotic Hypnosis Group (name of organization subject to change; this will be the first meeting, after all) at Broadway Pizza on Lyndale Avenue in Richfield (just north of 494.) This will also be a chance to meet Lady Ru’etha and myself in an informal, pizza-oriented setting.

Oh, and CONvergence this year (also in the Twin Cities) will have plenty of hypnosis panels and probably some hypnosis meet-ups and parties as well. More information on that as it becomes available.

I hope to meet at least a few of you there!

The Big Day Approaches…

April 21, 2010

Even as I type this, Lady Ru’etha (and one of Her most devoted pets) are currently heading out in a large moving truck from Her secret lair out east to make the long journey to join me here! It probably goes without saying that I’m tremendously excited about this, and I hope that in weeks to come, you’ll see some of the changes reflected on this blog. (For one thing, you’ll probably see a pretty big increase in the number of posts written while in trance.)

Safe wishes to Lady Ru’etha and CopperHeron on their journey are welcome, here or in Twitter.

Overloaded

March 3, 2010

It’s been an overwhelming week, here; I feel like I’ve been somewhat whiplashed. I haven’t, actually…there was some light bondage and hypno-play, but no flogging…but emotionally, it’s been an intense week. πŸ™‚

I spent this last weekend at Dark Odyssey, as mentioned in last week’s entry. It’s going to be a while, I think, before I’ve sorted out what I want to post here and what’s going to filter its way into my stories where the fig leaf of fiction can cover up the bits I blush to talk about; suffice to say, though, that it was a wonderful, emotional experience that brought me a lot closer to Lady Ru’etha…and for those of you who know us, you might be surprised that this was possible. πŸ™‚

We also took a little field trip and had a lovely dinner with Wiseguy, who is a great host and an excellent cook; I always enjoy visiting with him, and I hope he enjoyed having us over.

And then, of course, we got home to the news that blankpage had died. I didn’t know him as well as Lady Ru’etha did; the timing of some of his health problems meant that I was getting to know Her at around the point where he was drifting out of Her life. But I knew him well enough to be sad at his tragic, untimely loss. Coming right at the start of my last big, extended absence from my Lady, it’s combined to make things a little rough. We’re both doing alright (for the most part), but any sympathy and comfort that you can spare Her is appreciated. (Me, I always feel better knowing my Lady is being looked after.) She has written a very moving tribute to blankpage that can be found here.

Oh, and Lady Ru’etha turned in Her notice at Her day job yesterday to become a full-time hypnoDomme. Which is awesome. πŸ™‚ On the whole, an emotionally intense week. When I’ve processed it fully, I hope to be able to talk about it more.

Potpourri

January 6, 2010

Nothing particularly profound is leaping to mind at the moment (this is the wonderful thing about blogs, the hecklers have to wait until the comment section to reply to a straight line like that) so I figured I’d just string together a few random tidbits for you today. In no particular order:

  • Wiseguy, a wonderful author in his own right, conducted an interview with me as part of the semi-regular Author Spotlight feature on the MC Forums. You can find it here.
  • As thrall reported on her own blog, we are in fact collaborating on a trilogy of linked stories (it’s extremely amusing to me that she keeps referring to it as a three-chapter story, and I keep referring to it as three linked stories. Guess which one of us does multi-parters and which one of us does stand-alones. πŸ™‚ ) But whether chapters or stories, each one will have its own title, and if you stop reading at the end of one, you’ll feel like you got a real ending. (Even so, we don’t plan to start posting them until we’ve finished all three.) I might tease with a title, but I’ll have to check with thrall first. πŸ™‚
  • I have a new laptop, and it is helping my productivity to no end; you ever notice how you always get the best ideas when you can’t write? Well, not so much for me right now. πŸ™‚ I’ve written about a half dozen stories on it (unlike Lady Ru’etha, I don’t tend to name my computers; they’re always just filed in my head as “Brain Extension” and I feel weird naming body parts.) This now pushes me into August of 2011 for unposted stories. See why I put out the books? πŸ™‚
  • This is always where the obligatory “hypnosis features prominently in the news/media/pop culture!” item goes in lists like these, but I honestly haven’t heard about anything. Really, I get plenty of hypnosis in my daily life, I don’t need to go searching for it. πŸ™‚
  • The Spiral Awards should be opening their nominations fairly soon. Just thought I’d drop that hint now, while it’s still fresh. πŸ™‚
  • And as a final, minor note of happiness, the posting of “Joy To the World” last month helps Lady Ru’etha check off one more item in Her “100 Things in 1000 Days” list. She’d had “Write two collaborations with Jukebox” on there, and this and “I Can’t Wait” make that a reality. This doesn’t mean we’re not planning on doing another, though. We’ve talked about…but I might be hinting too much, there. Watch this space. πŸ™‚

And that’s all I can think of for the moment. Next week, I’ll try to post something a bit more substantial…but as a tease, it’ll require finding the cord to download things into my mp3 player. πŸ™‚
